If somebody were to find an Olds Jetway for allegedly-$500, would its sheer freak factor earn it a LeMons weight rule exemption? Should it?
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

I don’t think so, seems incredibly dangerous to drive at high speeds with tight turns.

High speeds, nah. Tight turns, maybe. The FWD drivetrain, passive steer single wheel rear suspension, and truly excellent engineering all around that went into that chassis (GM Motorhome) combined with a lower center of gravity... I don’t think it’d be dangerous at all, apart from likey the understeery.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen one hauled out as a barn find curiosity, but I think it didn’t go for that much. Despite being rare, the market for these is almost nil and there are a lot that were seemingly just ditched in the weeds.

If the original Olds 455 couldn’t be made spry again, one *could* drop in nearly any big block crate motor. I don’t know at what torque the HyVo chain would give out, but supposedly under normal use it would run to over a million miles with no appreciable stretch - even with a Cadillac 500 rated for 535 foot pounds of torque. I know the rest of the trans can be built for extra power...

You know, if it weren’t for the fact you’re only supposed to have one driver, there would be an easy way to shenanigans the $500 cost - sell tickets. About 13 $75 tickets later, and you’d be sure to afford the car. The safety guys would never go for a full shuttle load of people on the track, but if only...

If I find one I’ll start a new ice racing league with these guys:

It would be interesting to know if the 4x rear tires were helpful or hurtful in the ice.

I think you would understeer either way. Not sure how much RWD on the Pontiac helps either.

An answer, from high up in the lemons supreme court: “You would need a weight exemption from Jay Lamm, which he probably would give.”
Also, as long as each driver has their lemons license (I forget how much those cost) you can have as many people as you want to drive the car. However, there can only be one person in the car at a time.

The one person in the car at a time is the saddest bit with this. I mean, apart from if this thing were banned. The logical move then is to fill all the the back seats with either crash test dummies, mannequins, or stuffed animals.
